Polk County Representative
Emmet T. Rogers, candidate for representative, 9th district, was born March 17, 1897. He attended Ladd Grade School, Lincoln High, Christian Brothers Business College and Northwest College of Law, all in Portland.
He is a Navy veteran of World War I. Past secretary of Local 165 Pulp and Sulphite Workers Union. He has held positions of trust and responsibility as both emplyers and employe. He has lived in Polk county with his wife Genevieve, for over 20 years. He is a land owner and developer for housing. He knows Oregon. He has been recognized internationally in the fields of stock and poultry feeds as well as in housing.
Emmet T. Rogers declares his full support for Oregon and the national Democratic platforms, and the philosophy of Lyndon B. Johnson, president. He has watched people live and concurrently believes that no law shall be passed granting to an citizen or class of citizens privileges or immunities which upon the same terms shall not equally belong to all citizens.
New taxes, economy and values are issues for 1964-65. Emmet T. Rogers is opposed to any form of a sales tax for he believes such tax would grow as amonster to be housed in marble palaces ans surrouned by Napoleonic legions clamoring for tax supported weal.
