Clifford L. ‘Smitty’ Smith, Feb 15, 1904-May 22, 1989

Clifford Leonard “Smitty” Smith, 85, of Salem died Monday in Salem. He was born and had lived his entire life in Salem. He had been a warehouseman for Terminal Ice Co for more than 30 years. He married Margaret V. Wilcox on Oct 14, 1967, in Salem. He was a member of Court Street Christian Church and the Brush College Grange. He enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Doreen B. Nelson of Eugene and Doris I. Eshleman of Roseburg; sons, Howard M. and Gene C., both of Salem; brothers, Arnel J. of Salem and Harvey of Spokane, Wash; step-daughters, Maxine Severson of Salem and Evelyn M. Neal of Albany; and stepson, Robert L. Neal of Salem. Graveside services will begin at 11 am Friday in Zena Cemetery. Visiting will be from 1 to 5 pm today and 9 am to 5 pm Thursday at Barrick mortuary.
