Paul W. Shepard, Nov 19, 1909-May 29, 2000

Paul Shepard, 90, of Salem died Monday. He was born in Salem and graduated from Oregon State Univesity with a degree in agronomy. He worked for First National Bank, taught high school in Gresham during World War II and worked in the shipyards. He worked for Boeing from 1957 to 1962, then moved to Salem where he grew cherries and built homes, retiring to Salemtowne. He was active at the Salem Senior Center and a memer of Zena Presbyterian Church. He married Lucille in 1930, and she died in 1982. He married Frances in 1984, and she died in 1997. Survivors include his sons, Gary of Salem and Dennis of Santa Maria, Calif; daughter, Maria Orbik of Woodland Hills, Calif; brothers, Joe of Salem and Dave of McMinnville; sisters, Arden Welch of Gresham, Ruth Wright of Tennessee; and four grandchildren. Services will be 2 pm Saturday at Zena Cemetery. Arrangements are by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors. Contributions: Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland or Oregon State University Foundation.
