OBITUARY: 

Maude Edith Miller, 96, 1143 2nd St NW, a long-time Salem resident, died Saturday night in an Independence nursing home after a lengthy illness. Mrs Miller was police court judge and city recorder for West Salem in the 1920s when it was a separate city. Born at Eau Claire, Wis, she came to Salem from Wisconsin in 1903. Her husband, John Irvin Miller, died two years ago. Survivors include son, Robert, Seal Rock; daughters Fern Bradford and Dorothy Clark, both of Salem; four grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be 2 pm Tuesday in Zena Cemetery, northwest of Salem, Howell-Edwards-Doerksen mortuary in charge.
