OBITUARY:
Son of Enineer McCully [sic] Killed.
A terrible accident occured at a logging camp this forenoon by which a son of Engineer Alf. McCully (sic), lost his life.
Archie McCully (sic), formerly of North Salem, was killed while working on a log jam on the river about ten miles below Salem. A boy came on horseback this morning to get Dr. Henderson, who went to the scene of the accident. He was working in the Robinson logging camp on the Kaiser bottom, where a large lot of logs are being got out for the Spauldings, of Portland. The jam broke at 8:30 a.m. and he tried to run from it but ran right in the way of the logs and was crushed from his chest down to his hips, recieving internal injuries, from which he died. He was about 21 [sic] years old.

NOT McCULLY - It was Archie McKillop, not McCully, as reported in last night's JOURNAL, who was crushed in the log jam six miles north of Salem Tuesday morning. The doctor from Slem arrived but a few minutes prior to his death, which took place at 10 a.m. He was 28 years of age, and a very hardworking man. He was one of the well known McKillop Brothers, of this city, and enjoyed the esteem of all who knew him. The remains were brought to the home of his sister, Mrs. Hannah McCauley, one block north of the A. M. E. church in Riverside addition to North Salem. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow (Thursday), from the residence and burial will be in Zena cemetery. He leaves five brothers to mourn his death - Robert J., David, Wm. Alexander and Abraham. As there was no doubt about the manner of his death no inquest was deemed necessary.
