1900 OR CENSUS - Jane Walker, age 81, widowed, mother of 5 children 4 of whom are living at the time of the census, b. Apr 1819 in Missouri, is enumerated with her daughter Dora, age 39, single, b. Feb 1861 in Oregon.  Also enumerated in the household is a boarder, Clyde Henry, age 22, b. Dec 1877 in Washington.

DEATH CERTIFICATE: 

OSBH DC (Marion County 1904) #1662 - Mrs. Major Walker, female, married, d. 28 Aug 1904 at the age of 84 years, interment Zena 30 Aug, undertaker W. T. Rigdon, no other personal information given, no informant listed.

OBITUARY: 

WALKER - At the family home on Center streets, Sunday, August 28, 1904, Mrs. Major Walker, of old age, aged 84 years.
Deceased has lived in Polk county the most of her life, until a few years ago, they moved to Salem. Her husband, Major Walker, died May 4, 1896. She leaves a number of children to mourn her demise. The funeral will be held tomorrow at 11 o'clock, and the burial will be held in Zena cemetery, and the services will be conducted by Rev. W. C. Kantner, of the First Congregational church, of which deceased was a member.

Portland, Or., Sept. 24.—(Special.)—Mrs. Jane M. Walker, who died at Spring Valley, Polk County, August 28, 1904, was born near Clarksville, Mo., April 24, 1819. She was married to Walter M. Walker, July 6, 1843. In the company of her husband and little daughter she left her old Missouri home for the perilous journey across the plains, starting on April 1, 1848, reaching the Willamette Valley in October of that year. They settled in Spring Valley, where Mrs. Walker continued to reside until seven years ago, when she removed to Salem, making her home there to the time of her death, August 28, 1904.
Mrs. Walker and husband, who died eight years ago, were earnest members of the Baptist Church. Their lives are a rich heritage for their children and grandchildren. To Major and Mrs. Walker were born five daughter [sic] Mrs. J. L. Purvine, Mrs. W. D. Jeffries (deceased), Mrs. D. G. Henry, Mrs. J. K. Sears (deceased), and Miss Dora.
The funeral services were held on August 30, at Zena Church. Six grandsons of deceased acted as pallbearers.
