Helen Bennett, Feb 6, 1916-Feb 26, 2007

Helen Bennett, 91, a longtime resident of Pedee, died Feb 26. She was born in Maupin to Jimmie and Gareatha Shively Dyer. Helen graduated from Pedee School. She married Earl C. Gage in 1936 in Pedee; he died in January of 1952. Helen married Lawrence “Bud” Bennett on Oct 25, 1952. Helen and Bud were active with the Pedee Volunteer Fire Department from 1970 through the early 1990s. They trained and were part of the Quick Response Team. They both also helped maintain the Womer Cemetery. Helen was a member of the Pedee Women’s Club and Pedee Evangelical Memorial Church. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Helen always showed kindness to others. She was preceded in death by her husband Bud in 1991; son, Jimmie; daughter, Ellie; and brothers, Ralph, Veryl and Donald. Survivors include her sons, Tom Gage of Madras and Earl Gage of Pedee; daughter, Laurie Yost of Pedee; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Service was March 2 at Pedee Evangelical Memorial Church and interment was in Womer Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Pedee Evangelical Memorial Church memorial fund in care of Bollman Funeral Home, Dallas which handled arrangements.
