3 Boys Suffoate in Freezer Chest
Independence, Ore. (AP) -- Three boys suffocated here in an abandoned freezer chest near their homes.
Dead are Allen John Keller, 5, son of Mrs. Joy Amouak, and Richard Speden, 11, and his brother, Wayne, about 8, sons of Mrs. Frank Corillo.
Police Chief Harvey Shellenbarger quoted Mrs. Corillo as saying she saw the three shortly after 5 p.m. and they told her they were going to their school grounds or the city park to play.
The bodies were found in the chest at the rear of the Amouak residence just before midnight.
The Amouak and Corillo families live in houses side by side in the Willamette Valley, about 50 miles southwest of Portland.
