PROBATE - Polk Co., #726 - M.C. Brown of Dallas, Polk Co., d. 16 Mar 1900; heirs are widow Lottie C. Brown, 61, of Polk Co., Oregon, and daughter Maria B. Miller, 52, of Portland, Oregon; nephew Alonzo Brown appointed executor of will.
[Second wife Charlotta Case md first on 1 Jan 1875, Henry Co, Ill, to Clark H. Seymour; they appear in 1880 census of Rock Island Co, Ill; she died 10 May 1911 in Dallas and was buried in Salt Creek cemetery (OSBH DC (Polk co 1911) #1636)]

OBITUARY: 
Matthew C. Brown was born in Ohio 84 years ago, and in 1858 came to Oregon and located at Dallas where his brother W. C. Brown had been living for some years. He conducted a blacksmith shop for many years. He had been in poor health for a long time and died last Friday morning. Mrs. Maria Miller, a daughter by his first wife, came from Portland and was here during his fatal illness. Many sorrowing friends went to see him laid to rest in the Brown cemetery north of town.
