OBITUARY: 
Mrs Susan Frances McKinney, 67, died Wednesday, May 15, at the home of her daughter, Mrs J.S. Robbie, in Independence. Mrs McKinney was a former resident of Dallas and Lewisville. She was born in Pike county, Illinois, April 26, 1862, and was married to Charles H. McKinney January 28, 1884. The couple homesteaded land in Nebraska. They came to Oregon in 1903 and settled near Lewisville. Mr McKinney died in 1907. Following that Mrs McKinney lived in Dallas for several years, and more recently at Independence. There were five children in the family, four of whom survive. They are Mrs Robbie, Giffen and Frank McKinney, both of Portland, and Elmer McKinney, Seattle, Wash. Clyde was killed in a railroad accident, March 17, 1917. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday at the Keeney Funeral Home, Independence, with burial in the Smith cemetery near Lewisville.

Mrs Susan Frances McKinney, 67, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs J.S. Robbie, West Monmouth street, at 4 pm May 15. She had been ill for the greater part of the time for a couple of years or more and had made her home with her daughter most of the time. While with her sons in Portland recently, she was stricken and was brought here last week in a precarious condition. Mrs McKinney’s maiden name was Cox. She was born in Pike county, Illinois, April 26, 1862. She was married to Charles H. McKinney January 28, 1884, and soon afterward they filed upon a government homestead near Alliance, Nebraska, and for a few years endured many hardships in their efforts to improve the land. Both united with the Christian church soon after their marriage, and later became Adventists. They came to Oregon in 1903, settling near Lewisville. Mr McKinney died in 1907 and Mrs McKinney and her children established their home at Dallas, living there for many years. Mrs McKinney is survived by four children: Mrs Robbie, Giffen and Frank McKinney, both of Portland, and Elmer McKinney of Seattle. Another son, Clyde, a railroad employee, was killed in a railway accident in 1917. Funeral services are to be held at the Keeney chapel this afternoon at 2 o’clock. Interment will be in Smith cemetery.
