OBITUARY: 
Miss Helen Yeater, well known Monmouth young woman, died in the Salem general hospital Friday, December 29, following a brief illness. She had some form of throat trouble and developed hemorrhages which, despite blood transfusions, could not be stopped. Helen was born in Clackamas county, May 29, 1909. Most of her life was spent in Monmouth where she attended the grade school, high school, and College of Education. She also was a graduate of Oregon State college. For a number of years she taught school in Lincoln county but since the war started had a position in the Portland schools. She is survived by her mother, Mrs Nellie Yeater, and by one sister, Mrs Mabel Pollan, also by a nephew, Sgt James Chatzauk who is with the army air force. Funeral services, directed by the Keeney funeral home, Corvallis, were held in the Monmouth Christian church, of which she was a member, on Wednesday afternoon, with Rev W.A. Elkins officiating.
