OBITUARY: 
Arthur L. Burns, 75, who died at the home of Mrs. Fred Lemons in Salem on September 19, was born on a farm in Benton county near Corvallis, the son of John and Susan Burns. In 1883 he moved to the home place south of Monmouth where he resided until September 8 when he was taken to the home of Mrs. Fred Lemons in Salem. 
Mr. Burns was one of a family of ten children, two of whom survive. They are a sister, Mrs. Emma Haggard of Independence, and a brother, John Burns, Monmouth. 
Funeral services will be held at the Evangelical church on Saturday, September 23, at 2:00 p.m. with the Smith-Baun mortuary in charge. Rev. E. C. Hicks will officiate and interment will be in the Smith cemetery.

Arthur L. Burns Funeral Saturday
Funeral services will be held at the Evangelical church in Monmouth, Saturday, September 23, at 2 pm, for Arthur L. Burns, who passed away in Salem, Tuesday, September 19. Mr. Burns resided on the Burns farm south of Monmouth, and was taken ill September 8, and taken to a convalescent home in Salem.
Mr. Burns is survived by two sisters, Emma Haggard of Independence, and Ruby (the last name and residence not learned); one brother, John Burns, who lives south of Monmouth. Rev. E. C. Hicks, pastor of the Evangelical church of Monmouth, will conduct the services and interment will be at the Smith cemetery at Lewisville. Funeral arrangements will be in charge of the Smith-Baun chapel of Independence and Monmouth.
