Feb 1875 in Oregon.  DISCREPANCY - Marker and obituary gives month of death as February, death certificate gives month of death as January. DISCREPANCY - Marker gives year of birth as 1870, 1900 census gives year of birth as 1871, obituary gives year of birth as 1872 OBITUARY:  Funeral services for Francis Otto Kau who died at his home near Hoskins Thursday, February 12, were held in the Keeney Funeral home in Corvallis Monday, February 16. Rev. Clarence W. Reynolds, pastor of the First Christian church of Corvallis, officiated and interment was in the family plot in the Montgomery cemetery in Polk country.  Son of John J. and Louise J. Meffars Kau, well known early Oregon pioneers, “Frank” Kau was born in the Bridgeport precinct of Polk county June 3, 1872. He attended the schools of that community and then engaged in stock raising which occupation he followed for many years. In March of last year he went to Benton county and has since made his home with his sister near Hoskins.  Mr Kau was a single man, having never married. Surviving are his sister, Mrs Matilda J.
