OBITUARY:
Accidental Shot Fatal to Ronco Child
Pauline, 11, Hit in Mouth When 22 Rifle Goes Off in Hands of Older Brother in Fir Grove Community
Pauline Jane Ronco, 11-year-old daughter of Mr and Mrs Albert Ronco of the Fir Grove community, died Wednesday night at the Dallas hospital from an accidental gunshot wound. The child, according to Coroner C.W. Henkle, was struck in the mouth when a 22 automatic rifle discharged in the house. An older brother had taken down the supposedly empty gun to clean it. Pauline was brought to the Dallas hospital and Dr W.L. Pemberton was called but the bullet had penetrated a vital region. The rifle had a clip magazine and this had been removed, but evidently a shell had been left in the chamber and the safety was off. The rifle had been used about the place by the Ronco boys to shoot squirrels. Pauline was born January 3, 1927, and was a pupil at the Fir Grove school. She is survived by her parents, Mr and Mrs Albert Ronco and five brothers and sisters, Olive, Charley, Alberta, Paul and Arthur. The body is at the Henkle & Bollman chapel pending completion of funeral arrangements. This is the eleventh unnatural death in Polk county this year.
