Mar 1833 in Germany, along with Anna, age 43, single, b. Apr 1857 in Wisconsin, Lue [Lewis], age 38, single, farm laborer, b. Jan 1862 in Wisconsin, Augusta, age 36, single, b. Aug 1863 in Wisconsin, Frank, age 28, farm laborer, b. Jun 1871 in Oregon, and Tilda, age 25, single, b. Feb 1875 in Oregon.

Austria), maiden name of mother Louise Meffears (b. Germany), interment: 28 Mar 1939 Montgomery Cemetery, undertaker Walter L. Smith, informant Tillie Frantz of Hoskins, Oregon.
OBITUARY: 
John Joseph Kau was born at Bridgeport, July 15, 1870 and died at the Dallas hospital March 25. When a young lad the family moved to the Fir Grove community where he had since made his home. At about the age of ten years he accompanied his mother on a visit to her old home in Wisconsin where they stayed about a year. One of a large family he is survived by two brothers, Louie and Frank Kau of Fir Grove and Mrs Matilda Frantz of Hoskins and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at Independence Tuesday afternoon with interment in the family plot at the Montgomery cemetery.

John Joe Kau, well known in this community, passed away at the Dallas hospital, March 25, at the age of 68 years. Mr Kau was born at Bridegeport, Oregon, on July 15, 1871, the son of John Joseph and Louise Kau. He is survived by two brothers, Louis and Frank of the Fir Grove district, and one sister, Mrs Tillie Frantz of Hoskins. Mr Kau spent most of his life in Oregon and most of the time was employed in farming and in the lumber camps. Funeral services were held at the Smith-Baun mortuary in Independence Tuesday at 2 pm, March 28. Interment was at the Montgomery cemetery. Rev G.H. Braun officiated.
