Apr 1880 in Kansas, and Neomi I., age 13, b. Aug 1886 in Kansas. The family is enumerated in the home of James' parents William, age 72, occupation farmer, b. Dec 1827 in Missouri, and his wife of 53 years, Frances, mother of 8 children 7 of whom are living at the time of the census, b. Jan 1825 in Indiana.
OBITUARY: 
James Matthews died at his home, 1941 Warner street, Sunday, August 6, at the age of 91 years. Father of Mrs. Mae Cochran, Mrs. Dae Stafford, both of Salem; Clem E. Matthews of Tail, Calif, J.D. Matthews of Yakima, Wash, and W.A. Matthews ot Hamilton, Mont; brother of W.D. Matthews of Salem. Services will be held Wednesday, August 9, at 1 p.m. from Clough-Barrick chapel, Dr. Henry Marcotte officiating, with interment in Jennings cemetery, Polk county.
