OBITUARY: 
James Ray, Polk county pioneer, died Sunday at his home near Nashville in Lincoln county. He was in his 88th year. Mr Ray was born in Missouri, February 14, 1851, and came to Oregon with his parents when a boy of nine. He resided in Polk county for 50 years. The past 25 years he had made his home on his ranch near Nashville. He had been in ill health for a long period of time. Funeral services were held at the Henkle and Bollman chapel with burial in the English cemetery near Airlie. Mr Ray is survived by his wife and six children, Charles of Salem, Luther of Valsetz, Wess of Toledo, Mrs Fanny Richardson of Nashville, Mrs Ella Whiaker of Salem and Frank Ray of Nashville. There are 21 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Elmer Ray of Dallas is a nephew.
