Thomas W. Eastman, Oct. 9, 1914-Jan. 3, 2000
Thomas W. Eastman of Monmouth died Jan 3 at his home. He was 85. He was born in Andrew, Texas to Robert and Lancaster Wren Eastman. He enlisted in the US Army during World War II. He married Thelma Moyer in Macon, Ga. They celebrated 58 years of marriage on May 26, 1999. After the war he moved to Arizona, where the family operated a cattle ranch. He moved to Oregon in 1959 and ranched in the Medford area. Upon his retirement in 1971 he moved to Monmouth where he continued actively working on his Monmouth farm. He enjoyed being with his family and feeding the local deer and ducks on the farm. He grew a large garden to share with family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Thelma Eastman of Monmouth; sons, Mike Eastman of Veneta and Jesse Eastman of Salem; a daughter, Virginia Giesbrecht of Dallas; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Services were held Jan 7 at Farnstrom Mortuary. Interment followed at English Cemetery in Monmouth.
