OBITUARY: 
Funeral services were held at the Chapman-Henkle undertaking parlors, in this city, Monday afternoon March 9, for Mrs Annie Elizabeth Embree, who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs Lillie Guthrie, in Portland on March 7. Rev W.S. Gordon preached the funeral sermnon, and interment was in the old family cemetery near Rickreall. Mrs Embree, whose maiden name was Annie Elizaeth Finley, was born in Saline county, Missouri, April 27, 1849. She moved with her parents to Santa Clara, Cal, in 1852, and a few years later came to Oregon, where she attended the Methodist college at Corvallis, now the Oregon Agricultural College. Her brother, William Finley, was president of the college at that time. She was married to Dr T.V.B. Embree, February 13, 1868, and resided in Lafayette, Corvallis, Dallas and other valley towns, where the doctor practiced his profession. In 1885 the family moved to Harney county, but later returned to Dallas. Since her husband’s death, Mrs Embree had lived with her two sons in Eastern Oregon. Mrs Embree is survived by one daughter, Mrs Lillie Guthrie of Portland and two sons, Clyde and Van Embree of Mount Hood, Oregon. She also left two brothers, Newton Finley of Campbell, California, and John P. Finley, the pioneer funeral director of Portland. Mrs Mary Hayter, of this city, was a sister-in-law.

Mrs Anna Eliza Embree, former Dallas woman who is well known here, died in Portland on Saturday, March 7 at the home of her daughter Mrs Lilly Guthrie. Funeral services were held in Dallas Monday with Rev W.S. Gordon officiating. Mrs Embree, whose maiden name was Annie Eliza Finley, was born in Saline county, Missouri, April 27, 1849. She moved with her parents to Santa Clara, California in 1852, and a few years later came to Oregon where she attended the Methodist college at Corvallis, now the Oregon Agricultural college. Her brother, William Finley, was president of the college at that time. She was married to Dr T.V.B.
