OBITUARY: 
James Henry Thurston Passes At Monmouth
James Henry Thurston, 80, died at the family home in Monmouth yesterday. He had been ill for several weeks, was cared for in a Salem hospital for a time. 
Born in Dunsford, Ontario, Canada, October 12, 1852, Mr. Thurston had spent the past 21 years in Polk county, living successively at Suver, Independence and Monmouth. 
Mr. Thurston resided at Dunsford until he was 25 years old, moving from there to Balsam Grove in the same province, where he resided until he came to Suver in 1909, to Independence in 1919, going to Monmouth in 1930. 
Mr. Thurston was married to Eliza Prudence Daniel March 19, 1879, at Balsam Grove. Eight children were born to them. Mrs. Thurston died November 18, 1912. Mr. Thurston was married to Hannah Q. Olmstread at Dallas in November, 1919, who survives, together with two daughters and four sons: Mrs. L. L. Conger, Medford; Mrs. Ernest Stewart, Lindsay, Ontario; J. J. Thurston, Cameron, Ontario; A. J. Thurston, Acacia Valley, Ontario; P. S. Thurston, Medford; W. H. Thurston, route 2, Independence; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Murdock, Bobeayeon, Ontario; a brother, E.A. Thurston, Eugene; two half brothers, R.M. Thurston, Newberg and J.J. Thurston, Portland. The remains are at the Keeney funeral home, pending the arrival of his son from Medford to decide upon the date. 
Mr. Thurston was a farmer, following that vocation all of his life until his retirement a few years ago, and was successful, accumulating a competence.
