1880 OR CENSUS - Samuel F. Goff, age 59, occupation farmer, b. Missouri, is enumerated with wife Nancy, age 54, b. Kentucky, along with Lavenia, age 23, b. Oregon, age Mary E., age 20, b. Oregon, Sophia, age 14, b. Oregon, and Gelevia, age 12, b. Oregon. Also enumerated with the family as a boarder is Wm. K. Sigerson, age 27, occupation bar tender, b. Maryland.

Samuel Ford Goff b 14 June 1820 in Mo; one of 5 ch (2 sons & 3 daus) of David Goff & Kesiah Ford who moved to Ore 1844 and settled at Derry; Samuel married 14 Mar 1844 in Sheridan Co, Missouri, to Nancy Virgin; had 12 ch; lost first child in Missouri; started for Ore Apr 1847; a son David Reason was b on the plains; he d at foot of Tallapoosa mountains and was bur at Eugene; arrived in Polk co, Ore, Oct 1847; settled 3 mi S of Dallas; moved to Independence 1887; Samuel d 30 June 1887; had 12 ch; 7 lived to maturity, Laura V., the oldest dau, widow of A.C. Harrison, lives in Marion co; Samuel of Independence; Lucretia N., wife of John Bacon of Polk co; Luvenia P., wife of Fred Gelwick of Pullman, Whitman co, Wash; Mary Ellen, wife of George Pierce of Pullman; Geneva, wife of Marcus T. Fisher; Sophia, living at home with mother.
