OBITUARY:
Funeral services for Mrs. Nora Louisa Craven, 91, Forest Grove and long-time resident of Rickreall, were held February 8 at 2 p.m. at the Bollman Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Lyman officiating.
Mrs. Craven died Friday, February 4 at the Raleigh Hills convalescent home in Forest Grove.
She was born November 10, 1874 in Yakima, Wash., daughter of Jacob J. and Angeline Burch, who were early Oregon pioneers, coming here in 1847.
Her parents moved to Washington, where she was born and in 1879 they settled in Polk county near the old donation land claim of her grandfather at Rickreall.
She married Forrest Craven July 10, 1898 and lived in Rickreall until 1922 when she moved to Garibaldi and then to Salem. She lived in Forest Grove since 1959. Two children were born of this union, a daughter Mabel, who preceded her in death and a son, Alan, of Forest Grove.
Other survivors include a sister Mrs. Grace Todd, Newberg; a grandson, David Simpson, Snohomish, Wash.; a granddaughter, Nora Lee Cartwright, Beaverton; four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the Methodist church and of Macabees Lodge. Interment was at Rickreall in the Pioneer cemetery, located on the donation land claim of her grandfather Judge Samuel T. Burch, one of the original incorporators of Willamette University and a member of the first legislatures of Oregon.
